Welcome to St. Edward Parish!
Our mission is to inspire saints who inspire saints to build the Kingdom of God! Saints are heroes of the faith who have gone before us and are worshiping the Blessed Trinity forever in the Kingdom of Heaven. Disciples of Jesus desire to be saints now so we can inspire others to join us on our journey of faith. Following Jesus isn't easy and we're not meant to walk alone. We need our family, friends, and a community of disciples to walk with us, encouraging us, and reminding us we're not alone. Here at St. Edward we aspire to help one another grow in holiness through our prayer life, faith formation, and accompanying one another.
St. Edward Parish is a diverse community of faith made up of families from different cultural backgrounds, ages, and economic levels. We're blessed to have parishioners who have lived in this community their entire life, even buying the home they grew up in, as well as new neighbors just moving in from another part of the city or from different countries. There are opportunities for adults to foster deeper community through social groups and ministries, and for children and teens to get to know each other through our faith formation programs. We have something for disciples of all ages to feel welcome and involved.

What to Expect at Sunday Mass
- Parking: We have a large parking lot on the corner of Sunnyside Ave. and Lowell Ave., as well as two smaller lots: one next to our main school building on Sunnyside Ave., and one with handicapped spots behind our church, accessible through the main lot or by turning into our alley off Kostner Ave. This smaller lot offers the best access to our church elevator. Street parking is also available around our campus.
- Entering: You can enter the church through the main doors off Sunnyside Ave. or through any of our courtyard entrances off the small rear parking lot.
- Accessibility: Yes, St. Edward is accessible! Our elevator, added in February 2022, serves the church and our lower hall (called "Unity Hall"). Drive north through the parking lot and head between the Rectory and the Convent to find the handicapped parking. The elevator doors are in our Marian courtyard along the east wall of the church. Accessible bathrooms are located in the church basement (Unity Hall).
- Order of Mass Guides: As you enter, there will be a table with Order of Mass Guides. Please take one so you can read along with the daily Scripture passages and join us in song. You're welcome to sit anywhere in church you like.
- When Mass begins: A bell will be rung and everyone will stand. Laminated cards on the ends of the benches (pews) can help you follow the prayers of the Mass. Watch your neighbor if you don't know when to sit, stand, or kneel, and don't be afraid to ask for help. We're not here to judge — we want you to feel at home.
- Children: Absolutely, bring them! We have a ton of young families in our neighborhood, and there are almost always multiple babies at our Sunday Masses. We love children and don't mind when kids act like kids. Sit in the front pews so they have a better view of the sacred mysteries at the altar. Children who have not yet received First Holy Communion are also welcome at our Children's Liturgy of the Word every Sunday during the 9:00 AM Mass. The catechist greets the children at the front door and leads them to our rectory chapel (the Oratory of the Holy Trinity). Parents are welcome to join them, though you are encouraged to stay in your pew and enjoy some quiet time to pray.
- Fellowship: Following most Sunday morning Masses, there is food and drink in our church basement (Unity Hall). There's never any cost to join us, but feel free to bring something to share. All are welcome!
